About

This course is designed to help learners to gain confidence in using English in everyday life– including at school, work and in the community. The course aims to improve communication skills in English with a focus on speaking and listening.
This course is aimed at learners (aged 19+)  who wish to improve their English, and have English as a their second language. This ESOL course is suitable for all levels.
PLEASE NOTE: This course will be delivered both online and in presence.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Communication in the following social areas that could be adapted to be used for future employment as well as increasing current skills and confidence levels in everyday social situations
  • Everyday customer service 
  • Experience of living/working within the UK, including things learners are good at or interested in.
  • Working as in a team – experience, making decisions, agreeing and disagreeing.
  • Making telephone enquiries
  • Detailed conversation to explore depth of knowledge of a topic learners are really interested in.
  • Communication language used in a workplace.
  • Hopes, expectations and goals for the future.

FAQs

Who is it for?  This course is for adults whose first language is not English. It can help improve your confidence which will help make life in the UK easier whether you are looking for work, want to find a better job, help your children with their homework or just to talk to your neighbours and be confident to visit the doctor without a translator.

 

What will you do?  You will learn vocabulary and grammar and develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. The course will be delivered using online learning. Students can also use the course to  study for ESOL Cambridge exams as well as Functional Skills qualifications.

How will the course delivered and assessed?  You will be taught and assessed by our specialist teaching team throughout the duration of your studies. There is no formal exam in this course however the tutor will monitor your progress through classroom activities as well as directed learning. 

 

Future career or opportunities to study?  Students who complete this course will be ready to progress to functional skills English or Cambridge ESOL exams. 

Course fee:  The course is free for residents in the UK or Refugees. If you are not eligible you might be able to enrol by paying a subsidised fee so please contact us for further details.
